Gary Telleen, RPT

Gary Telleen is a Registered Piano Technician with over 35 years of expertise in piano technology and restoration. He earned his Bachelor of Music from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, and his Master of Music from Northern Arizona University.

 

For over two decades, Gary owned and operated Classic Piano Restoration in Arizona, specializing in high-quality piano rebuilding and service. After relocating to Kansas, he established Craftsman Piano Service which became Wichita Piano Services in 2019, continuing his commitment to excellence in piano care.

 

Gary is a proud member of the Wichita Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild and is dedicated to providing skilled, reliable service to musicians, educators, and institutions throughout the region.

Isaiah Dowds

Isaiah Dowds combines technical precision, discipline, and a passion for craftsmanship in his work as a piano technician. Born in Germany to a military family and raised in the Midwest, Isaiah brings a strong sense of commitment and adaptability to every project.

 

He began his formal training in piano technology under the mentorship of Registered Piano Technician Gary Telleen, following his marriage into the family. Since then, Isaiah has continued to develop his expertise through hands-on experience and dedicated service.

 

Alongside his piano work, Isaiah has proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves for over 12 years, further reinforcing his attention to detail, reliability, and work ethic. He specializes in piano tuning, action regulation and repair, and the installation of PianoDisc player systems.

Josh Hermes

Josh Hermes is a dedicated piano technician with a strong foundation in music education and performance. A native of Hutchinson, Kansas, Josh was immersed in music from an early age, which led him to pursue a degree in Music Education from Fort Hays State University. He later earned a Master’s degree in Trombone Performance after relocating to Kansas City with his wife.

 

Josh briefly taught music and band in the Wichita area before discovering his passion for piano technology. He began his career with Wichita Piano, training under the mentorship of Isaiah Dowds and Registered Piano Technician Gary Telleen.

 

Josh is a proud member of the Wichita Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild and is committed to providing high-quality, reliable piano service to musicians, educators, and families throughout the region.

John Telleen

John Telleen brings years of hands-on experience and a lifelong connection to the piano industry. Raised in a family deeply rooted in piano service, John began moving pianos in his early teens and has traveled to 47 states as part of long-distance piano moving.

 

After high school, John pursued a career as a professional barber in McPherson, Kansas, where he worked for four years before returning to the family business. He now serves as an experienced piano mover and shop assistant, and is currently apprenticing as a piano technician.

 

John is known for his reliability, care in handling instruments, and growing technical skill. He lives in Kansas with his wife and daughter.

Trevor Penner

Trevor grew up and lives in the Hillsboro, KS area. He studied piano at the Tabor College Music Preparatory School for 13 years. His passion for making music at the piano combined with an insatiable curiosity for how things work led to a pursuit of piano technology as a career. He is apprenticing with Gary Telleen, RPT and looks forward to expanding his skills. Trevor is a member of the Wichita chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild.

Rebecca Dowds

Rebecca Dowds brings a lifetime of experience and a strong background in business management to her work with Wichita Piano. A homeschool graduate, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.

 

Having grown up in the piano industry, Rebecca has been involved in nearly every aspect of the business—from assisting in the rebuilding shop to hands-on experience with piano moving, which remains her favorite part of the work.

 

In addition to her role at Wichita Piano, Rebecca is a devoted homeschooling mother of four and an active member of her local church community.
